I am Clare Foale (she/her) - pronounced “foal” like a baby horse.
I am a creative, storyteller, space holder, mother and activist, living and
creating on Garigal land on the east coast of Australia.
In 2023, at 42 years old, I found out I was Autistic and ADHD (AuDHD) - this made such sense of my life and unleashed so many more questions and explorings - many of these are shared here on the Neurokin blog. Around the same time some of my kids were identified as Autistic, ADHD, PDA - these are their journeys to share when and if they choose. However my journey of Mum to Neurosparklies is a huge and ongoing one.
Since having kids (14 years ago), I have “done” many things: sold wrapping paper, essential oils (cringe!), begun holding Circles, written about self care and the magnificence and messiness of Motherhood, taught tapping, held space 1:1 for people and many other iterations.
Through my Circles, 1-1 conversations, workshops and creative offerings (which are mostly lying dormant in a season of rest), I helped/help folks traverse the wild landscapes within and emerge with fresh perspectives,
remedial practices and a reimagined relationship to Life, self and others.
My work - exploring story, spaciousness, listening, place, who we are, motherhood and community
care - is inspired by the ocean, the ever-evolving canvas of my home, my commitment to
social justice and my many journeys to the gritty, gnarly places within.
Having found my way back to spaciousness after diagnosis, deaths, trauma and three tussles with
postpartum depression / Autistic burnout, my super power is using both inner sense and strategy to find
a path home.
I am told my willingness to go where others dare not, combined with my capacity to
illuminate and name the many divergent paths available, make me not only a fierce way-
finder but also an inimitable map maker.
I weave my gifts as a space holder, listener and storyteller together with
my professional experience as an administrator, organiser and strategist - sharing both
practical skills and facilitating rich, connective conversations.
Ever the observer and
capable of finding magic where no-one else can - my spaces are enriched with nature,
humour, humanity and a fierce commitment to a kinder, more just world.
Fuelled by my restless search for meaning and a desire to help others discover and
embody the ephemeral sense of spaciousness, my work offers a welcome companion
for those who are feeling disconnected, disenchanted or disembodied.
My capacity to
observe, listen, make connections and offer pathways back home make my spaces deeply
medicinal and a formidable voice for hope, healing and wholeness in these
strange times.
Thank you to my dear friend Meg Berryman for penning these beautiful words and reflections.
